Grading Definitions

All items are carefully and strictly graded to Overstreet standards. We have over 20 years experience dealing in US comics, and this is reflected in our strict grading. All books are in original, unrestored condition, unless noted.
We offer a 'no quibble' 7 day money back guarantee for your peace of mind and protection. Please see our full TERMS/FAQ for details.

"cents" - an unstamped U.S. cents copy
"pence" - a comic with a UK pence cover price
"stamped" - a U.S. cents copy with an inked UK price stamp on the cover

pence and cents copies were printed at the same time as each other, and one is not a reprint of the other. The pence marked editions were produced for distribution in the UK.
Where no cents/pence indication is given, comics can be assumed to be "cents" or "dual priced" (in the 80's the publishers ceased producing seperate cover priced editions, and for a time the cover showed both UK and US prices on the same cover)

NM (Near Mint) - Almost perfect- glossy comic with white pages. Looks new, regardless of age. It is fairly rare to find 1960's comics in this grade. Even untouched copies usually suffer with discoloured pages, and therefore cannot be considered NM.
VFN (Very Fine) - Excellent - at first glance perfect but under closer scrutiny a few very small defects are noticeable. Pages may be off white, but not noticeably brown.
FN (Fine) - Above average. A nice collectable comic, but with some visible wear such as small stress lines at the spine or a small very light corner crease.
VG (Very Good) - Average second hand condition. No major defects, more an accumulation of smaller ones. Still a decent item, but noticeable 'read'.
G (Good) - A worn, well read comic. Still intact with no large pieces missing.

All comics (including lower grades) are complete and have no pages or pieces missing, unless indicated.

A near perfect comic with browning page borders will at best be graded around FN/VFN.

These grading definitions apply to our Silver Age section only. Comics in our regular back issue sections can be assumed to be brand new unless otherwise noted.
